We have recently extended our European services to include lake surveys due to the rise in enquiries from couples and individuals that have a dream of owning a Continental venue. Whilst we would never seek to spread doom and gloom on the industry without cause one has to say that a fair degree of caution is needed before embarking on such a risky project. An idyllic lake can turn into an absolute disaster that consumes money faster than a government 'dome' project. A lake survey is vital.

A good venue can earn a viable income but it wont be easy. The same applies to any site anywhere in the world, if you do not know what you are doing you had better get some advice sooner rather than later. There are already a mass of poor quality, badly stocked venues throughout Europe. Gene pools are generally weak due to bulk rearing on fish farms and many lakes are badly managed leading to the inevitable crash that always follows, in a month, a year .......................

For many years the industry has exploited anglers and taken their money without any thought for the future of the sport. How many big tackle or bait companies have actually put any money back ? Angling in general, especially Carp angling, is on the decline and with so many Dads too busy to wean their kids off the Playstation the future of angling needs to be very carefully nurtured if it is to thrive. The moral to all this is 'be careful'. Get the right advice and perhaps that dream venue could become reality.
