Ongoing carp research and the protection of our native species forms a major part of our company’s aims and objectives. Financed at present entirely from company profits we are always looking for ways to increase our activity in these fields and welcome any individuals, company’s or educational institutions that can help us extend the program.

For many years the results of our lake surveys has proved to us that established opinions on fish location, feeding habits and general behaviour are far from accurate and often very wide of the mark indeed. Modern technology provides us with a unique opportunity to discover more about the fish and their responses to the ever changing lake and river environments in which they live. Many venue owners, in the quest for ever increasing profits, are stocking their lakes with cheap. poor quality fish that are mass reared in ever increasing numbers. This often results in the progression of poor gene pools and higher fatalities..... Some lakes eventually crash completely and the onset of SVC becomes inevitable.

Illegal importation of fish, particularly French Carp and Catfish from a variety of locations can do irreparable harm to our indigenous stocks. A good example is the explosion of claims regarding new British Carp records. Apparently, from nowhere Carp have grown beyond all reasonable estimates. Obviously these are no more than French imports do they really qualify as British records?

Whatever your opinions on the subject it is surely to everyone’s advantage to improve the level of understanding and general knowledge both from an angling point of view and as a commercial consideration.

To increase the data we receive we have just expanded the International Specimen Hunters Association. It costs nothing to join, we do not ask for loads of personal information and your only obligation is to abide by the simple rules and submit your catch details at least twice a month. In return we will make available research and sonar result details plus any other information that is held within our data banks. E-mail us for details.

Educational packs and simply written tutorials are amongst our future projects aimed at younger prospective anglers. Many fathers are just too busy to take their children fishing and as a result fewer youngsters are taking up the sport. It is vital to our industry that this trend is reversed.

If you value our British fish and care about the sport it is important to become involved. We are always pleased to hear from anyone that has suggestions or ideas that can aid the research program.................... ......................we look forward to hearing from you.

We have now changed how the association operates and split the membership into two categories. The main level remains much the same but we have added an intermediate stage that will make it easier for first time applicants to join without the greater involvement that full membership requires

Details can be found elsewhere in the site under the ISHA tags

f you take your angling seriously, whether for Carp, Tench or any other species. membership to ISHA can only improve your understanding of fish behaviour in general.

You will also be contributing to a 'No Bullshit' association that aims to make available the widest range of research data ever accumulated.
